St Isaac Jogues is a Catholic parish in Hinsdale, Illinois. If you attend one of our masses, you will quickly get the feeling that our parish is thriving. St Isaac Jogues Parish seeks an Safe Environment Administrator who will administer the parish and school’s safe environment compliance program in accordance with the Diocese of Joliet’s requirements. The Safe Environment Administrator reports to Mark Cummings while supporting the entire parish and school in administering Saint Isaac Jogues’ safe environment program. The Diocese of Joliet's Safe Environment program is a set of requirements that ensure the safety of all environments in the diocese. The program includes:
Training
All church personnel must complete the Protecting God's Children for Adults (PGC) program before starting service. This program is offered online through a VIRTUS account and covers topics such as sexual abuse, identifying signs of abuse, and reporting abuse. Employees must also complete monthly educational bulletins and continuing education every three years.
Background check
All volunteers and employees who work with minors or vulnerable adults must consent to a name-based criminal background check. This background check is repeated every five years.
Policies
All church personnel must read and digitally sign the Diocese of Joliet Pastoral Policy Regarding Sexual Abuse of Minors and the Diocese of Joliet Standards of Behavior for Those Working with Minors.
Record keeping
All Safe Environment records are maintained on the Virtus Online website.
Administration of VIRTUS –
Ensure that all required to have a VIRTUS account at their location have one. The account must reflect required information. The Safe Environment Administrator is responsible for all users at their location including adult employees, certain contractors, adult volunteers who minister with minors/vulnerable adults, student teachers/student observers/field placement/interns, school of spiritual direction students and spiritual directors, and high school students.
A user must have the correct Role(s) and Location(s) assigned to their VIRTUS account so that the correct safe environment compliance requirements are assigned to their account.
The Safe Environment Administrator is to run a Compliance Report regularly (i.e., monthly) and provide to their respective pastor/principal/diocesan director. Per diocesan policy, church personnel are to be compliant with diocesan safe environment compliance requirements to minister, work, or volunteer.
The Safe Environment Administrator is to provide assistance to those who are unable to set up a VIRTUS account OR suggest to the individual to work with a friend/family member to assist them with setting up a VIRTUS account.
Background Checks - The Safe Environment Administrator is to provide those who need fingerprint background checks (new employees and new clergy to the Diocese of Joliet) with the Fingerprint Applicant Form for your location
The Safe Environment Administrator is to review Fastrax on a weekly basis to Review/Submit or Delete a background check release form for a user for your location.
The Safe Environment Administrator is to review and submit for payment the bi-monthly invoices from Selection.com (name-based background checks) and the monthly invoices from Accurate Biometrics (fingerprints).
Reporting -The Safe Environment Administrator will complete an annual audit report to the Diocese.
Follow-up - The Safe Environment Administrator will need to be in contact with those who hire new employees, student teachers/student observers/field placement/interns; those who hire independent contractors; leaders of ministries which include adult and/or high schools volunteers who minister with minors/vulnerable adults. This list will include but is not limited to the business manager, school principal, religious education director, spiritual direction director, youth ministry director, physical education director, room parents, lunchroom helper, and school volunteer administrator, and the school board leader. In addition, all outside volunteers using our facilities and working with minors and/or vulnerable adults must be in contact with the Safe Environment Administrator.
This is a part-time, non-benefited employee position that during the school year requires 12 to 24 hours per week. Work can sometimes be done from home. During the summer there will be several weeks with little to no hours worked.

Strong computer software proficiency including proficiency in MS Office (or equivalent email, word processing, and publishing, plus scheduling software) and ability to quickly learn and use new software applications.
