We at St. Isaac Jogues Church and the residents of Hinsdale are uniting for our 11th annual Seeds of Service project to feed the needy of our surrounding communities, and beyond. Because of your generosity over the last nine years, we collected, sorted, and distributed more than 15,000 bags and 25 pallets of food and other needed items to six worthy charities. But we can’t do it without your help.
To make this happen, we’ll need more than 300 volunteers over two Saturdays: 100 to drop off 4500 bags on Saturday April 13th, and more than 200 volunteers to pick up, sort, load and deliver the collected bags on Saturday, April 20th. Please click here to sign up for the days and times that best work for you, and remember to bring a bag or two filled with any of the below items when you arrive at the St. Isaac’s parking lot to start your shift.
What we give and the service we provide will help those most in need through the below charities, who are always grateful and amazed at the bounty they receive from our parish and town. You can even see the gratitude on the faces of the orphans from a small village in Nigeria (pictured above) happily wearing our Seeds of Service t-shirts though Children’s Welfare and Development. Let’s all come together to live out our Faith, performing works of charity with our friends and neighbors right here in our backyard, in both giving to and serving the least among us, because of Jesus.
The items you generously donate will be distributed to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Peoples' Resource Center, the Missionaries of Charity & The Fanciscans of the Eucharist of Chicago. Checks payable to Children's Welfare and Development (pictured above) are also gratefully accepted.
This Eucharistic Procession between the parishes of St. Isaac Jogues in Hinsdale and Notre Dame in Clarendon Hills takes place on Thursday of the week of the Feast of Corpus Christi. It all begins with Mass at the starting parish (which alternates year by year -St. Isaac Jogues in 2024). Then we gather to process with Jesus - priests, nuns, seminarians, deacons, and hundreds of parishioners from both parishes. We sing and pray as we walk in our parade of praise and worship, with a few stops along the way for prayer at altars erected in parishioners' yards.
The Procession closes with an outdoor Benediction, followed by Christian fellowship. Afterward, trolleys (available also along the route for those who can't walk the full duration) take participants back to their cars at the starting church.

Our parish party, held in the St. Isaac Jogues parking lot, is attended by hundreds of our parishioners every year. Enjoy food, beer, wine, games, prizes, live music, a petting zoo, and plenty of Catholic community, all in honor of our Patron Saint.

This annual tribute is sponsored by St. Isaac Jogues' Council of Catholic Women and provides parishioners the opportunity to dedicate a luminaria as a silent tribute to loved ones who have passed. The luminarias remain lit from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the courtyard and walkways outside of the church. All are welcome to visit the courtyard during this time for a moment of prayer and silent tribute.
Sign-ups for having the name(s) of your loved one listed on a luminaria take place in the weeks leading up to the event. See the weekly bulletin in October for the form.
Bring your unneeded clothing (clean, folded, and bagged) to the annual SIJ clothing drive. Donation bags will be available for your use in the back of the Church and in the Narthex.
No household items, please.
Drop off will be in the parking lot before and after all Masses on November 19th & 20th.
We will have the SVDP truck staged conveniently in the main parking lot for the Saturday afternoon Mass and all of the Sunday morning Masses. We will have volunteers at the truck to receive your donations of clean gently used or new clothing. There are collection bags available in the church narthex and you are welcomed to use your own plastic garbage bags as well.
The Little Sisters of the Poor care for the spiritual and material needs of those who have no one to care for them during their final time on earth, relying on Divine Providence, in the form of our charity to keep their mission going.
Each year during the week before Thanksgiving, we collect frozen turkeys, as well as non-perishable food items (see their website for ideas). Bring your contributions for the Sisters to Mass on collection weekend, and we'll deliver them to the Little Sisters in Palatine.
SIJ parishioners always make Christmas special for so many families in need.
Through the Adopt-a-Family program, under-resourced families in the Hinsdale area submit their wish lists for Christmas to be filled by our parishioners. Parishioners are able to select a family to shop for and then return the wrapped (and labeled) gifts to be picked up by the recipients. Watch the bulletin or check back here in early November for more details.

A Parish Mission is designed to deepen one's spiritual life and challenge each person to an ongoing conversion to Jesus Christ and to his Church. Our parish mission takes place over two weeknights, with a special speaker brought in to share more deeply on a topic related to our Catholic faith.

As part of our Lenten practice of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, parishioners have the opportunity to provide direct support to one or more selected organizations and funds that help those in our community who face physical and/or financial challenges. Parishioners can take an envelope from the Giving Tree in early Lent and return it with their donation via the Sunday collection basket.
