Reconciliation

In His mercy, God has provided us with the opportunity for forgiveness of our sins committed after Baptism through the saving death of the Lord Jesus on the Cross. In the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, we receive this mercy and the healing of our broken relationship with God through the confession of our sins and the absolution given by the priest. 

According to the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, "the Sacrament of Penance involves a conversion of our hearts to
God, a confession of sins to a priest, the forgiveness of our sins, a pen-
ance to make some amends for sin, and reconciliation with God and the
Church. For those who commit mortal sin after Baptism, this Sacrament
is necessary for being reconciled to God and the Church."

The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that we are to confess our sins at least once a year, and adds: "Anyone who is aware of having committed a mortal sin must not receive Holy Communion, even if he experiences deep contrition, without having first received sacramental absolution unless he has a grave reason for receiving Communion and there is no possibility of going to confession." [CCC #1475]

Confessions are heard weekly in our church on Saturday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. Additional times are added in preparation for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. 

Anyone who wishes to make a confession outside of the normally scheduled times may phone the Parish Office to arrange a time with one of our priests.
