Baptisms are held on the first and third Sunday of every month, following the Noon Mass.
To inquire about available dates and register your child for the sacrament of baptism, contact the church office at 630-323-1248.
We limit the number of children being baptized on each occasion in order to make the experience meaningful for all involved, so we suggest contacting us to choose your date well in advance of when you hope to schedule the baptism.
After you have scheduled a Baptism date through the Church Office, please complete the form below and email it to Jane at [email protected]
Baptism FormFor those adults who were never baptized as a Christian (in any denomination), baptism and full initiation into the Catholic church is a part of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Congratulations to our new and expectant parents! In seeking Baptism for your child, you make a public promise to journey with your child and to be the first teachers in our faith. Baptism is the sacrament that welcomes your child into the Church. It is a day of joy, not only for you and your family, but for the entire Christian community. Through Baptism your child begins to share the life of Christ with all other Christians.
First-time parents are expected to attend a Baptismal preparation class. At this class, parents are given practical guidance in introducing their children into our Catholic faith as well as discussing the lifelong commitments of Christian parenting. You will also learn about the elements of Baptism, as well as the ritual, signs, and symbols of the sacramental celebration. Families that are baptizing a second child (or more) are not required to attend but are invited, especially if there is a length of time between births. Families baptizing a first baby will receive an email communication or phone call to register for a baptismal preparation session shortly after your Baptism date is confimed. For more information, or if you'd like to participate in a formation session for a second, etc. baby, please contact the church office at 630-655-5918 or email Jane Walter, [email protected]
In considering which individual(s) to ask to serve as your child's godparents, remember that their role is to guide the child in the ways of the faith so that they may reach heaven. At least one of the baptism sponsors must also satisfy the following requirements of Church Law:
Parents can choose to have a non-Catholic Christian serve as a sponsor along with a Catholic godparent. This individual is recognized by the church as a "Christian Witness."
While parents may opt to have only one godparent, if two godparents or a godparent and Christian witness are chosen, there must be one male and one female.
